KKN Gurugram Desk | The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj turned tragic as a pre-dawn stampede near the Sangam Nose left 30 people dead and 60 injured. Authorities have now launched an investigation into another reported crowd panic incident in the Jhusi area, nearly 2 km from the main stampede site.

According to Vaibhav Krishna, DIG Kumbh, the will conduct a detailed examination of CCTV footage from the site to assess the events leading to the chaos. The   has announced an ex gratia of ₹25 lakh for the families of the deceased.

DIG Kumbh Vaibhav Krishna stated:
“Footage of the incident will be thoroughly examined, including recordings from cameras installed at the site.”

“Suddenly, some devotees, including children and women, fell. Their family members, trying to save them, also fell. The situation turned into complete chaos.”

Raju Nishad, a snack vendor near Sector 21 crossing, shared:
“At around 6:30 AM, I saw a massive crowd moving in both directions. There was just one route, which led to confusion and panic.”

Another vendor, Shiv Charan Bharti, who runs a tea stall, mentioned:
“Police were present, but the crowd was uncontrollable. The sheer number of people made it impossible to manage the situation.”

Emotional Scenes at the Mortuary: Families Await Their Loved Ones

At the SRM College in Prayagraj, where post-mortem examinations were conducted, grieving families waited for their loved ones’ bodies.
